A SECOND child has died following an accident on 4 January at the fairground in Mislata when a sudden gust of strong wind overturned a bouncy castle.
The four-year-old girl had been in hospital in a serious condition since the accident but today Mislata town council announced she had passed away. An official statement said: “We regret the death of a second girl who was seriously injured in the accident at the fairground ride.
“We give our condolences and all our support of the town of Mislata to the family and friends of the girl who has lost her life, RIP.”
The town has declared two days of official mourning until noon this Wednesday, with all municipal acts suspended and a minute’s silence was held today.
The tragic accident occurred on Tuesday 4 January when a sudden gust of wind overturned a bouncy castle at a fairground in the Valencia town of Mislata. Nine children were taken to hospital, two in a serious condition, and one of those, an eight-year-old girl, sadly died the day after the accident.
Firefighters had attended the scene of the accident to make sure no other children were trapped. They later shared photos of the deflated bouncy castle on social media.
Police have launched an investigation into the accident.
