A TOTAL of 25 migrants in two vessels were rescued off the Alicante coast on Tuesday night. Among the passengers were 24 men and one woman, understood to be a minor.

The first boat was reported adrift 15 miles off the coast near El Campello, and according to reports on Cadena Ser radio, there were 11 men on board in relatively good health.
The other boat carrying 14 people, 13 men and one woman, was discovered a little later, at midnight, off the coast of Elche. Two people needed medical attention, one for a broken ankle and the other for a leg injury.
The lifeboat, La Salvamar, rescued both boats and transferred the immigrants to the port of Alicante so that they could be attended to by the Red Cross social and health services, before being handed over to the National Police.
