The regional health department has administered 11,746 third covid jabs to vulnerable groups across the region this week.
Regional health minister, Ana Barceló said: “Our aim is for the most vulnerable group of the population, which the elderly are, to be totally protected against the virus.”
So far 8,735 doses have been administered to elderly people and 3,011 to people in risk categories.
The health department aims to vaccinate 21,000 care home residents in the coming weeks and to help achieve this, vaccines are being sent directly to residences where they’ll be administered either by care home workers or by health department employees.

This week the health department will continue to offer vaccinations without appointments, although the mass vaccination programme will be wound up at the end of this week, so anyone wanting to get a jab should go along to one of the vaccination centres before they close at the end of September, So far 31,242 people have had themselves vaccinated without an appointment, both at the mass vaccination centres and the mobile vaccination points which have been at football matches and other specific events.
Thats ahead of the UK!
