Woman dies after slipping while taking a selfie

A Ukranian woman was rushed to hospital on Tuesday afternoon after falling while taking a selife at one of Benidorm’s iconic tourist attractions.

The 26-year-old, who was with a friend, fell while trying to take a photo of herself at the beauty spot with the Levante beach in the background.

She was rescued by a team of lifeguards and given CPR until her vital signs returned. She was then taken to Alicante General Hospital where she was reportedly in a very serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

This video on Antena 3 shows the moment when the lifeguards tackled the waves on the rocks to rescue her.

Sadly, she died in hospital on Friday as a result of her injuries.

It is unknown exactly how she ended up falling 20m into the sea from the high area of the Punta Canfali at Benidorm Castle, one of the most visited and highly photographed areas of the popular tourist resort.
