This week there have been 5,712 new infections from coronavirus, significantly fewer than last week’s 7,014. There have been 9,298 all-clears, compared to 12,261 last week. There have also been fewer deaths, 33 this week, compared to 52 last week.
Hospital admissions are also down, 411 this week, compared to 475 last week, although the number of people in intensive care has increased, from 84 last week to 93 this week.
Nearly 4 million people (3,929,382) have now received a first jab of covid-19 vaccine, while 3,408,304 people are now fully vaccinated.
